AT THE BOARD

Born Marcus X. Thomas, Professor MiXT is a spoken word poet and music producer who uses electronic groove and soul to tell stories about artsy Black folk who fall up. His music is a blend of rhythmic Soul and JazzHop with contemporary R&B sensitivities.

He describes himself as musically curious as opposed to being a pure musician.

BEHIND THE BOARD

He has multiple credits as a producer and engineer for indie recording artists as well as engineering credits on the 90’s Hip Hop group Another Bad Creation. He mixed sound for NBC Sports’ Take a Seat: Egypt and Take a Seat Alberta.

He has composition placements in indie films Dead Tone (2007), The Open Door (2008), and Jesus’ Secretary (2009).

ON THE BOARD

Professor MiXT serves as the Vice President for the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association and on the Education Committee for the New York Chapter of the Recording Academy. He was previously a Governor for the Atlanta Chapter of the Recording Academy.

Professor MiXT teaches performings arts management at The University of Hartford.
